Hanjin Subic shipyard launches 3 vessels simultaneously
Subic Bay Freeport Zone: On April 21, 2018, HHIC-Phil Inc. successfully launched three newly built vessels from its dock no. 6, a colossal state-of-the-art facility considered one of the biggest in the world today. Unprecedented as it is, launching of ships is one of the most important procedures of the entire vessel construction process.
The milestone event saw one 20,600 TEU containership and a pair of Crude Oil Tankers (114K) safely glide their way along the shipbuilder¡¯s long quay wall equipped with cutting edge support facilities for the required outfitting works and other finishing touches.
The newly launched 20,600 TEU containership, which measures roughly 400 meters in length, is the third ultra large boxship to be built by the Subic-based shipbuilder for French shipping giant CMA CGM. On the other hand, the tanker duo was ordered by Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) based in Singapore.
The three brand new vessels will undergo rigid technical inspections and sea trials. The 20,600 TEU containership is scheduled for delivery in September 2018, while the two Crude Oil Tankers(114K) are expected to join their owner in August and September of this year.
